Race Details

This Hillclimb will be contested on exactly the same course as the historic Mt Washington Auto Road Bicycle Hillclimb – the toughest Hillclimb in the world. This addition is in response to the overwhelming popularity of the MWARBH and this year will benefit the Mt. Washington Observatory and other non-profit organizations. In addition to a percentage of the proceeds being donated to these organizations, junior racers will also have the opportunity to enter by raising money directly for the Observatory.

The intent of this second Hillclimb is to satisfy the demand for bicycle racing on this hill and to raise money, but it will only be conducted in a way that will not hinder the Tin Mountain Conservation Center's ability to raise funds in the future through the annual Mt Washington Auto Road Bicycle Hillclimb held in August. This climb will mirror the original and only be held if the MWARBH fills completely. Newton's Revenge is limited to 600 racers.

Racers will be given a passenger ticket – this passenger ticket goes to your driver. If your driver has TWO tickets they will have free passage up the Auto Road – if your driver has ONE ticket they will pay the Auto Road fee. If a driver has 0 passenger tickets – they will NOT be permitted on the Auto Road. If your car is overloaded with spectators; meaning not enough room for racers and bikes the Tollhouse my ask for spectators to be removed or will deny passage on the Auto Road. Vehicle Restrictions
VERY IMPORTANT! Please check the Mt. Washington Auto Road website for rates and vehicle restrictions. Be aware that a number of vehicle makes and models are prohibited from using the Auto Road. There are also weight restrictions depending on the type of vehicle. Hondas, Acuras, Saturns and Jaguars with automatic transmissions that do not have a 1 or L (low) showing on the shifter will NOT be permitted on the Auto Road. Vehicles that are over the weight limit will be asked to remove passengers or will NOT be permitted on the Auto Road.

Spectators
Spectators are not allowed to drive their cars to the summit. Cars on the Auto Road are for racers only. Spectators may hike up the Auto Road prior to the start of the race. There will be a steady stream of cars driving up the road so pedestrians should be alert and stay to the side of the road. Remember there will be 600 cyclists racing up the road in four separate waves, please stay off the road until all racers have passed you.

Stagecoaches will be available to take spectators to the summit. Be early! Tickets will be sold starting at 7:00 am on a first come first serve basis. Stages will then proceed to the summit and not return to the base until after the Auto Road reopens at 12:30 p.m. No spectator vans available after 8:00 a.m. No advance ticket sales.
Rates:  Adults: $29.00 / Children 5-12 $12.00
For more info please visit the Mt. Washington Auto Road web site.

Dogs
There will be NO dogs allowed PAST THE BRIDGE on the Auto Road. The bridge is located at the base of the Auto Road and must be crossed to reach the festival tent. Dogs are allowed in the summit-bound vehicle but must remain on a leash once on the summit. This includes all forms of 4-legged creatures, creatures with wings and creatures that slither! So be kind - leave your pet at home.
